Ought to check on Codeplex to see if there's a newer release

Not sure how one would go about this but, hey, it ought to do it.

It looks from that as though you need to make the project a ClickOnce one. I did actually look into this (in order to get the auto-update stuff) but for some reason I decided it was a horrible idea. I now have no recollection of what that reason was.

Although this is truly ugly, I did wonder about screen-scraping the homepage for the app on Codeplex and stripping out the current download version number. Both the homepage and the downloads page have several tempting looking pieces of text to screen-scrape - could even just search for "Wallpapr [0-9]*.[0-9]*" dumbly through the entire raw HTML and then compare what you found against the current version number. If they ended up changing the page such that the version number didn't show up like that any more then, hey, your version control is broken. But something is better than nothing!

A slightly more scientific approach would be to tag the version number in a specific way - #1.6# or something - so that you could be a bit more sure screen-scraping the HTML.

Okay, I admit it, these are all cowboy ideas...
